Thank you for having Mrs. Z come talk to us. I am really nervous about student teaching and the first year, but now after hearing her experiences i think i can better deal with it. One thing i realized is that i need to have my lessson plan well thought out. this will only help me in the class room and hopefully it will add to the lesson by helping students comprehend. I also realized that it doesnt matter what the students think of me or my lesson. if i think i am doing a good job then most likely i am. and finally i know that i am to proud. I know that sometimes i need help but i wont ask for it. Hopefully i will take her advice and not be afraid to ask other teachers for help. She told us that teachers are always willing to help so i know i need to use every resource available.
Thank you

John, you discovered some important ideas by listening to Mrs. Z. You’re right. Effective teachers spend time planning their lessons. You have witnessed teachers who don’t seem to have a lesson, and you have witnessed the results – lack of student interest and learning. Ugh!
It’s often difficult for teachers to accept the fact that some students just won’t like the lesson. We can even say that some students won’t like the teacher. This is sad, but it’s a reality. We as teachers must keep working to build rapport with students and plan lessons that everyone will like and find meaningful. We persever in this quest.
Finally, seek out colleagues who want to work together. I would ask in an interview about the teachers’ working relationships because I would want to teach in a school where the teachers work together. When teachers work together, their work is easier and better. Nice posting, John. NB
